TOP 3 GREEN SUPERFOODS 🌱🌿

While I find the word “superfood” to be completely over-used these days, especially since all whole foods offer nutrients making them pretty “super,” I’d still like to give the title to my three favorite greens powders!

These “superfood” greens are packed with nutrients and offer many health benefits. I’ve listed just some of the health benefits below:

🌱Spirulina ~ blue-green algae that helps boost the immune system, regulate cholesterol and blood pressure. It contains chlorophyll which provides vitamin A, B vitamins and iron. It’s also a great source of protein and essential amino acids!

🌱Morninga ~ comes from India’s ancient “miracle” tree. It’s high in antioxidants and vitamins, including iron, magnesium, zinc, vitamin A, vitamin C, as well as B vitamins. It’s also a great source of calcium, potassium and protein, and can be used to help balance cholesterol and blood sugar levels.

🌱Chlorella ~ this algae contains chlorophyll, beta carotene and is a great source of vitamin C, iron and protein. Chlorella has also been known to help rid the body of heavy metals and other toxins. You’ll want to look for “broken cell” or “cracked cell” Chlorella as this will aid in digestibility and absorption.

I’ll be completely honest – none of these greens powders taste amazing 😬, however, the flavor of these powders can be easily masked in a fruit smoothie!

There’s nothing worse than feeling sick!  😷 During the cold winter months, our immune systems tend to be vulnerable, leaving us susceptible for colds, the flu and infections. Today I’m sharing some of my favorite natural cold remedies, which are meant to help boost the immune system and help fight illness.

Why is immune support so important? The immune system’s primary function is to protect your body against infection, and if the immune system is weak or compromised, you will be much more susceptible to illness. So a strong immune system is vital for a healthy body!

~Green tea with cayenne, lemon 🍋 and raw honey 🍯

~Oil of Oregano capsules

~Zinc lozenges

~1T Apple cider vinegar mixed with honey and warm water taken as a drink

~For sore throats, mix together apple cider vinegar, pink Himalayan sea salt and warm water and gargle several times a day

~ACF immune support shot, which is a mixture of immune boosting herbs such as elderberry, echinacea, ginger, etc.

~Essential oils, like this “breathe easy” blend I use in my diffuser

~Lots and lots of water, soups, broth and sleep! 😴 🍵 #naturalremedies

natural beauty tip: makeup remover

Let’s talk skin care. For those who wear makeup most days like myself, it’s important that you remove your makeup at night to give your skin a chance to breathe. When selecting a good makeup remover, be sure to choose one without all the harsh chemicals that are in most cosmetic brands.

For example, here are the ingredients in a brand name makeup remover that can be found at your typical drug store:

I’m a girly-girl who loves to wear makeup, but I really dislike all of the chemicals that go into them! I definitely do not want scary chemicals that I can’t pronounce on my skin. That’s why I do my best to purchase all-natural makeup and beauty products when I can. I’ll be sharing some of my favorite all-natural beauty finds with you, starting with makeup remover.

Here are my two favorites:

Coconut oil and Jojoba oil! They have just one ingredient, with nothing added to them, and they work perfectly to remove my makeup!

I purchase both at Trader Joe’s, but you can also find them in a supermarket or purchase them online (coconut oil and jojoba oil).

They get the job done and my skin thanks me for the lack of chemicals. I also like using coconut oil as a body moisturizer during the dry, cold winters. Smelling like a coconut is just a bonus!
